High pressure laminates (HPL) are a variety of decorative laminated that are produced by impregnating layers of kraft paper with melamine resin. These sheets are then infused with a decorative paper and an outer layer for protection. High pressure laminate sheets are molded and cured at a pressure higher than 72kg/cm2. The common range of pressure varies between 80 and 140 kg/cm2. Although the same technique is used to produce low pressure laminates, the aspect that segregates the two is the level of pressure applied on the production process.
